  • How to fix No Audio error on Apple CarPlay

I’m not sure if this bug is specific to my make and model of car but I’ve finally found a way to fix this annoying bug. I have a Volkswagen Golf GTE with factory fitted CarPlay and about 50% of the time it would not play any audio. I would turn the volume up and it would say ‘No Audio’.

I’ve found a fix, well a hack really. If you move into the Media section first then do a new Bluetooth search for your iPhone. Once you have seen the iPhone in the list of discoverable devices don’t tap it. Simply tap app again to go into CarPlay, the audio will magically start working again.

  • CarPlay reliability issues

I’ve been using CarPlay since I got my new Golf last year and it’s been solid until the latest version of iOS, 12.1.4.

What I’m finding is that I’ll be using it and it’ll suddenly disconnect my iPhone and go back to the ‘connect iPhone to use CarPlay’ message on the VW in car screen.

I’ve gotten used to a ‘no audio’ message that requires a restart but this is stopping me using it. To fix it I need to reconnect the cable.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

(For reference this is me using it on a 2017 VW Golf GTE).
